IHACC team member Carol Zavaleta recently authored a correspondence piece in Nature, titled “COVID-19: review Indigenous peoples’ data”. This correspondence highlights the need to consider data and public health strategies specific to Indigenous communities during the global COVID-19 pandemic.

MSc Candidate Crystal Gong recently presented a poster at the Global Health Fair at the University of Alberta.
Crystal’s poster presented preliminary results from her systematic scoping review that examines how gender and/or sex are considered in climate-health research that takes place in East Africa.

In early March, Jacqueline met and discussed preliminary findings on the impact of weather and the use of mental health-related clinic services with research partners in Happy Valley-Goose Bay. These discussions will be integral to the interpretation of findings and ongoing analyses for her doctoral research.

Her collaborative, three year program aims to examine how food biodiversity impacts nutrition and resilience to climate change in the Peruvian Amazon. The program will be led by Carol at Cayetano Heredia University, in close partnership with the University of Leeds and the IHACC Program.
